Reunited
Our own Tony Greening, 87, had the absolute pleasure of being reunited with his sister, Joan, for the first time in over a year recently.
Our Activities Co-Ordinator, Chris Martin, drove Tony on the 80-mile round trip to visit Joan, who lives at Petypher House, a retirement development in Kingston Bagpuize near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, as part of the home's person centred care.
Person-centred care is about considering the person's desires, values, family situations, social circumstances and lifestyles, while treating them as an individual, and working together to develop appropriate solutions.
Chris said: "The siblings had not seen each other for over 12 months and they both cried when Tony stepped out of the car to be warmly welcomed by Joan who wrapped her arms tightly around him."
“It was a very moving day for Tony and Joan after not seeing each other for so long. They both enjoyed lunch together in the restaurant at Petypher House and had a lot to catch up on.
“They spent the day reminiscing about their past experiences, growing up together and what they had been up to. Tony also brought his laptop on the visit so they could both see old photos of themselves and family.”
